Minnesota versus Wisconsin real estate

House hunting has become a little wearisome.  And decisions that States make don’t make things easier.

When we first moved to Minnesota, we thought living in either Minnesota or Wisconsin were equal options with Wisconsin being right across the St Croix River.

Now we need to learn more of tax rules as it may be more expensive to live in Wisconsin.  The home values are less but the property taxes are more.  In addition, if you work in Minnesota, you may still have to pay Wisconsin tax on part of your earnings.

Still checking into all of the ramifications of living across the “border.”

What a bother!

Chicago Snow

The snow was beautiful.  The trees were laden with snowflakes piled one on top of another.  The air was crisp and I could only marvel at the beauty.
I don’t know if heaven will have snow.  The Bible talks about streets of gold and mansions made specially for us.  But whether there is snow in heaven or not will not matter.  The Designer of the universe will see to it that we experience beauty beyond our comprehension on this earth.
For now, He allows us to have a small taste of His beauty.

Shelburne Farms in Vermont

One of the things that I like to receive for the holidays (if I have a choice) are food baskets.

Shelburne Farms Basket
This one was given to us by our daughter and it’s just perfect.
It includes the pancake mix, syrup and jam — then cheese thrown in as a bonus.
I have found that the mixes in these types of baskets are pretty good.  And, they are so timely during the holidays.
Shelburne Farms is in Shelburne, Vermont.  I have never been to Vermont but hope to someday visit.

Ugmonk T-shirts

Ugmonk t-shirt

It is not unusual for me to ask people what they would like as Christmas gifts, although I prefer spontaneity sometimes.

When a request for an Ugmonk t-shirt was received, I searched on the internet on where to locate them.

The company, located at www.ugmonk.com, has a mission statement that states they want to provide fresh simple graphics in their clothing line.

They have stayed true to their original purpose.
How refreshing to find something uncomplicated in a world that seeks to gain our attention with loudness, even in clothing.

Christmas Breakfast

It was not the usual Christmas day breakfast we’re used to having in Seattle.  Moving to Minnesota has brought new events to satisfy the holidays.

My husband usually makes our breakfast and this year was no exception although we were at my sister’s Christmas morning.

A simple meal of scrambled eggs, homemade potatoes, turkey bacon, fresh fruit and bagels.

Simplicity is the way to go in life.  Too many complicated things to tax the brain.  If we could just enjoy what’s at our own tables, life would be good.

Grown Up Christmas

As I was listening to the radio on TV, the song Grown Up Christmas List started to play.  There are many versions of it but the one that was playing was by Monica.

The words were soothing to me.   (I’ve added a link in case you want to download the song to hear it.)

Platinum Christmas

Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies
Well, I’m all grown up now
Can you still help somehow
I’m not a child but my heart still can dream

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown up Christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

(Refrain) No more lives torn apart
That wars will never start
And time will heal all hearts
And every man would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up Christmas list

May kindness rule our lives
Not just the strong survive
Sweet tears for all the thousand years gone by
This is the world I pray
We will all share some day
Help me begin by reaching out my hand.

(Refrain)

Why is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in the blind belief
Can we ever find the truth

(Refrain)

This is my grown up Christmas list
